As they walked home from a Josh Ritter concert, she said she was more interested in political and spiritual songs, not the love songs she thought weakened his set.
Okay, so as we continue to mature we want the content of our songs to mature, to match our complex, mutli-layered experiences. Is there any 40 year old who is moved by the content of a Britney Spears’ song (don’t give me any wisecracks about her videos)? My point: can’t there be love songs, too, for men and women who can’t even remember the blush, the overwhelming, tingling rush of heat and … and … from their first kiss? Are there any such love songs?
