This blogging shtick has exploded. One pleasurable things about blogger space has been its “rural” quality – you could get to know everyone in town and make a point to drop in and say hello every few days. This fall, on the backs of political blogs receiving thousands of hits every day, blogging entered the mainstream spotlight (and the god damn dictionary). More and more and more and more bloggers are taking up the dance.
I salute the whirling dervishes! The energy sure beats the dullness of brush-cutters in Crawl-furd, Texass, yet, alas, it’s hard to keep up with all the commotion, all the glare. That’s not to say I’m not also focusing attention on other points, e.g. planning a major conference this spring – the Core of Discovery – for K-College Language Arts educators.
In any case, I wish I had been on top of the Ron Silliman and Geoff Huth "exchange" on visual poetry. Check it out. See if it sounds to you too as if it’s a dialogue between two speakers who do not share the same native language and the accompanying sensibilities. I'd like to think I could have done some translating.
