The _Revista Canaria de Estudios Ingleses_ (_RCEI_) is now accepting original submissions of essays for publication in the 2011 April issue. The deadline is October, 2010. As editor of this _RCEI_ special issue on "Little Magazines of American Poetry in the Period 1970-2000", I would welcome contributions from scholars around the world, and any others who have a stake in the understanding of this phenomenon

Papers, but not limited to, focusing on these issues are invited: - What role/s little magazines played in changing poetry and social perspectives in the period 1970-2000?
- How academy subsumed innovations and creative research published in little magaziones?
- Market vs. individual position in the making of little magazines.
- The role of the editors as trademakers, practitioners, and creative researchers.
- What are the benefits of these little magazines considered as 'high' culture? Were they useful?
- How technological production affected potential readers of these little magazines?
- Historical view on this kind of literary production.

Completed papers should be no more than 7,000 words.

The _Revista Canaria de Estudios Ingleses_ is a peer-reviewed academic journal auspiced by  the

University of La Laguna (Spain), focusing on English studies.

Beeswax and Volta present Books Unbound at the Berkeley Public Library

We are pleased to announce Books Unbound, a letterpress and bookmaking exhibit at the Berkeley Public Library in downtown Berkeley. The exhibit runs September 1-14, and will feature a different issue of Beeswax Magazine in each of the library's five glass display cases. The month's events will also include an artists' reception and an outdoor reading. All events are FREE and open to the public!

Books Unbound exhibit: September 1-14 in display cases throughout the library. (NOTE: The library will be closed for Labor Day on Monday, September 7th.)

Artists' Reception: **TODAY**, Saturday, September 5th, 2-4pm in the Historic Lobby. Meet Beeswax editors Laureen Mahler and John Peck and browse a selection of Beeswax issues and wares from Volta Press.

Outdoor Reading: Tuesday, September 22nd, 8pm on the front steps of the library. This multimedia presentation will include readings from Beeswax contributors, music, and visual works projected on a large screen.

What means this dream?

We have a large car, like a Suburban (we don't in waking life), pulling a U-Haul-like trailer. We give the keys to Grandma (my mother-in-law), who is still spry in her late 60s/early 70s (not 88 as she turned last week), letting her drive the rig up a short hill. She gets it partway up the hill before it stalls. She gets out but apparently doesn't put the parking brake on. The car and trailer roll backwards. She just gets out of the way. The car and trailer separate, the car rolling onto its side against a building, driver's side roof caved in. The trailer stops, undamaged (I think; I was focused on Grandma and the tumbling car).
