A bullet on the corner

A fastball strike

on the one hand

 

spent lead

on the other

blood-tinged

 

on the sidewalk

One cheers

One screams

Oklahoma does lightning

 

                        as well as

                                    or more striking than

                             any place else

            on earth

To the east

            past midnight

                                                repeated blasts

                        above towering clouds

flash                            full                              white

white                          full                              flash

full                              white                          flash

full                              white                          white

                                                                        flash

                                    full                              white

white                          flash

                                                                        white

                        suffusing

                                                not confusing

            swelling tower of clouds

From here

                        no thunder

                                                yet

                                    repeated heat

            of light

roars

            white                                      flash
