Before we moved here

 

5104 Cypress Lake Dr.

I’d only lived once

in a house younger than me

This house is young enough

to be my child

 

I was 13

an usher at

Sheila Jone’s wedding

Someone made me

a whiskey sour

tasty as bubblegum

Made me another

I work 2 hours later

sober as never before

 

            Now the Queen is put

            in a very difficult position

As it so happens

 

coyote and geese

                        along the Canadian River

            draw hunters

                                    illegal

                                                (or people

shooting off guns for fun)

            so not as often as coyote clamor

                                                                        gunshots

                        punch at dusk

 

The women of Delta Sorority on Elm Street on the University of Idaho campus discovered an unexpected surprise on their front porch early Friday morning.

            According to Moscow Police, a dead coyote was discovered on the stoop at 1:07 a.m.

 

The moon we see every night

is not Earth’s first moon

but the latest in a series

of moons that orbited Earth

A long series of moon-moon

collisions could gradually

build up a bigger moon

That moment

           

at dusk

                                    when a pack of coyotes

                                    roaming along the Canadian River

            break the silence

                                                caterwauling yips and barks

                        geese joining in

 

People continue to *vastly*

                        underestimate

                                                the stakes

            of run-and-gun sloppiness

at the highest levels

                        of the US government

                        how close

and how far away

his consciousness resides

to capture any color

and hold it captive

in my eye

        nor do I want

to append an adjective

to modify the blue

of the sky

            right now

                        stroked

                                by a flock

of honking geese
