Traipsed

and planned

The Corp of

 

Discovery,

Gateway Arch,

and the Mississippi

 

this

cheap hotel

whimpers its inevitable

 

demise

its many

vacancies cancelling out

 

promises

that were

and never were

Brilliant southern

 

    summer morning

        slant of light

 

Usually languid

    yet skittish, turtles

 

        roil lake's shallows

Tear flesh

 

    from carcass

        of fish
