I picked up the notebook then

 

but it picked me up too

out of silence out of stagnation

I picked up what I couldn’t pick up

and was taken away

I picked up the notebook then

but it picked me up too

Out of silence out of stasis

 

I picked up what I couldn’t

Pick up

            and was taken away

I make love

to the lamp;

I make the lamp die;

I write

in the romance magazine

about turning off

the lamp.
